The dark horse of the Grand Rapids music scene, The Nuance is a 5-piece Pop Rock band with humble beginnings out of Lowell, MI. The group was formed in 2021 by lead vocalist Case Sheldon and guitarists Caiden Hinzmann and Connor McLane. In 2022, drummer Patrick Kargl and bassist Nate Emerson joined the group, officially solidifying band's rhythm section as two musicians with extensive experience touring and gigging professionally. Their music is best described as alternative rock with elements of pop, country, and hard rock. The Nuance performs both covers and originals, featuring big choruses and heavy breakdowns, while admittedly playing into certain clichés of what might be considered "dad rock".
The Nuance caught their first break when they were selected to perform at Kalamazoo's Ribfest 2023, a music festival with 10,000+ attendees annually, where they opened for the critically acclaimed and fellow Michigan-native band Pop Evil. They shared the bill with several other notable artists including Shallow Side, Derek Randall, Tone-Loc, Young MC, C & C Music Factory, and Color Me Badd. Later in 2023, the band professionally recorded five original songs at Third Coast Recording Studio in Grand Haven, MI, which are set to release as singles throughout 2024.
